FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AUSTIN, Texas – May 2, 2024 The Board of Directors of the Greater Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce (GAACC) today announced that Minh Tran, Chairman and CEO of the Emmy and Evan Company, has assumed chairmanship of the Board effective May 1, 2024. Tran succeeds Jessica Chen, who served as Chair since 2022.
Jessica Chen, Chief Financial Officer of Achieve Integrative Health will step down from her role as GAACC Chair to concentrate on developing the company’s growth opportunities in Asia, efforts requiring substantial overseas travel and attention.
“I am immensely honored to have worked alongside the dedicated Board members and team at GAACC for the past two years,” said Chen. “The remarkable transformation of our organization from day one to its current state is a testament to the many individuals who have generously contributed their time, talent, and treasure.”
Chen continued: “Looking ahead, I am excited about the continued growth of GAACC as the organization strives to serve our city and region and strengthens our role as a bridge connecting our local businesses with partners in Asia.”
Chen joined the GAACC Board of Directors in 2021 and was the first woman elected as Chair. During her tenure, she led the Chamber through challenging times with vision, courage, and principle. She also stepped in personally, devoting numerous hours over many weeks working at the GAACC’s North Austin office, to lead the staff, engage the membership, and help maintain continuity of operations during the Chamber’s leadership transition in early 2023.
Minh Tran has served on the GAACC Board of Directors since 2021. A dedicated leader passionate about small businesses and community service, Tran has spent years gifting his time to non-profit organizations across the United States. He was unanimously voted as Chair-Elect of the GAACC Board of Directors in February 2024.
“This chamber of commerce is one of the more dynamic community organizations I’ve ever seen, and a lot of credit goes to past and present leaders,” said Tran. “I am truly excited for where the GAACC is headed in the very near future and deeply appreciate the contributions Jessica has made to help put us on this path.”
