GAACC Announces Strategic Advisory Board Leadership Transitions, Welcomes New Advisory Board Members

Clifford Chiu Named Advisory Board Chair Alongside New Advisory Board Member Ahmed Moledina

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AUSTIN, Texas – September  17, 2026 — The Greater Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce (GAACC) today announced key updates to its Advisory Board leadership and membership, following a well-attended Advisory Board VIP Mixer event on Tuesday evening.

At Tuesday’s event, which gathered dozens of Central Texas’ civic and business leaders at the Austin headquarters of Tokyo Electron, longtime Wall Street and private equity executive, civic steward, and GAACC Board Director Clifford Chiu was announced as the newest GAACC Advisory Board Chair, effective immediately. “I am honored to chair the GAACC Advisory Board,” said Chiu. “As a two-term GAACC Board director, I have witnessed firsthand the impact the Chamber is making for its members and across Austin.

Chiu brings extensive global financial and governance experience to the role. As Advisory Board Chair, he will work closely with Board of Directors Chair Minh Tran, Board Chair-Elect David Teo, and GAACC executive leadership to deepen strategic alignment between regional industry leaders and Central Texas’ Asian American business community.

Chiu takes over for 2025-26 Advisory Board Chair David Teo, who assumes the chairmanship of the GAACC Board of Directors in January.

“Clifford brings a rare combination of Wall Street rigor, decades of experience across more than a dozen public and private company boards, and a deep, personal commitment to Austin’s Asian American community,” said Teo. “His leadership on issues ranging from investment strategy to civic engagement makes him exactly the kind of steward our Advisory Board needs as we look toward our next chapter.”

In addition to Chiu’s appointment, Teo also welcomed Ahmed Moledina, Founder & CEO of SOAL Technologies, Advocacy Committee Co-Chair, and Past GAACC Board Chair, to the GAACC Advisory Board.

“I’m equally pleased to welcome Ahmed Moledina to the Advisory Board,” Teo added. “Ahmed’s appointment brings us the perspective of someone who has already given so much to this organization. As a past Chairman of our Board of Directors, he helped lay the foundation for the Chamber we are today, and we are fortunate to continue benefiting from his wisdom and dedication in this new capacity. On behalf of the entire Advisory Board, thank you, Ahmed, for your years of service, and welcome to this next role.”

“Our distinguished Advisory Board members will continue to contribute their context, experience, and relationships individually whenever they can be helpful to the Board, CEO and staff,” Clifford Chiu continued. “In addition, we intend to come together around one meaningful, actionable objective for 2027 where our collective strengths can make a distinctive difference.”

These leadership developments build directly on the momentum of Tuesday’s GAACC Advisory Board VIP Mixer, which brought together local entrepreneurs, corporate partners, and civic leaders. During the gathering, GAACC highlighted key organizational momentum and announced Access Asia, a strategic initiative dedicated to strengthening international trade, cross-border investment, and global economic connectivity between Central Texas and Asian markets.
